The first annual Mission Mile Road Race - Big success for Rescue Mission
The Winston-Salem Rescue Mission hosted the first annual Mission Mile Road Race on Saturday, July 31. This exciting event, sponsored by Texas Pete, was fun for all who attended. The morning featured three separate races based on level of skill- beginner, intermediate, and elite. The top three male and female finishers for each race were:
- Beginner's Race: Female - 1st / Stephanie Toth (7:27), 2nd / Katherine Campbell (7:30), 3rd / Robyn Bilfelt (7:41)
- Beginner's Race: Male - 1st / Cooper Foster (7:15), 2nd / Kenneth Minor (7:22), 3rd / Jason Kent (7:23)
- Intermediate Race: Female - 1st / Kristen Weichel (5:25), 2nd / Molly Smith (5:29), 3rd / Ana Reutinger (5:39)
- Intermediate Race: Male - 1st / Nyenetu Morlu (5:05), 2nd / James Lassiter (5:09), 3rd / Anthony McNealy (5:18)
- Elite Race: Female - 1st / Molly Nunn (4:41)
- Elite Race: Male - 1st / Ryan Woods (4:03), 2nd / Alex Varner (4:11), 3rd / Sinclair Seavey (4:16)

All participants received custom race t-shirts and goody bags and enjoyed food, refreshments, music and much more. Funds were generated for the Rescue Mission's new Back-to-School Backpack Program, which will provide new, stocked backpacks for area at-risk elementary school students for the upcoming school year.
