Thank you in advance for wanting to volunteer at the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission. It’s amazing what can happen when we work together for the good of our community! While there have been challenges during the COVID pandemic, we have identified several volunteer jobs below that will assist us as we maintain a safe environment to our residents in our programs. We hope your time here as a volunteer is enjoyable and productive as you work to engage in our community, and create an impact in the lives of others.

Volunteer Opportunities

Recovery Programs
  • Provide food
  • Provide and assemble goodie bags for the residents
  • Yard work and maintenance projects
  • Wash Mission vehicles
Medical and Dental Clinics (Hosted by Samaritan Medical Clinics)
  • Dental volunteer
  • Medical volunteer
  • Approved medical students and employees can assist in clinic
  • Greet patients

All clinic volunteers are approved through Samaritan Medical Clinics. We will forward your application to them.

Thrift Store
  • Sort, hang, tag and display items
  • Arrange and dust shelves
  • Assist with special sales
  • Assist cashiers bag purchases at check-out
  • Assist in displaying items and stocking shelves
  • Clean and prep furniture items to sell
  • Help organize furniture processing area
Clothing Ministry
  • Assist clients during clothing closet hours
Food Pantry
  • Host a food drive
  • Sort food and make food boxes
  • Stock pantry
  • Sort barrels of canned food (good for groups)
Host a Drive
  • Collect clothing, coats, hats, gloves, socks, underwear, towels and twin blankets from friends and neighbors
  • Collect nonperishable items for the Food Pantry
Administrative
  • Stuff Envelopes
  • Assist in special projects as needed – organize and clean storage areas around campus
Special Events (Banquets, Golf Tournament)
  • Collect items as needed
  • Assist with registration
  • Recruit other volunteers

Our mission is simple:  Helping our most vulnerable neighbors recover from their struggles and find healing through the gospel and a new life in Jesus Christ.  Together, we can make a difference in more lives.

We offer recovery programs to men in need of life change.

We feed and clothe individuals and families in need.

We host an onsite free medical and dental clinic provided by Samaritan Medical Clinics.

We offer several opportunities for anyone who wishes to serve others.
